Interactivity:
Other Factors
- Due to the detailed level of projects and workload, this course is limited to 15 students per class.
- Students will receive feedback on all of their digital material assignments and other assignments will receive feedback from their peers.
- As this is the first offering of this course, class enrollment will be limited to 15 students as mentioned above. However, upon first semester completion, the instructor may expand the class size to 25 students based on feedback from students.
Navigation and Learner Control:
- The course will be designed using Blackboard Coursesites. Most students who will being enrolled in this class have experience using a site built with the Blackboard LMS. The layout will be clean and consistent.
- The sidebar navigation for this course will remain consistent across all pages.
- Links to discussion boards and other outside resources will always be provided in module instructions. These instructions will consist of one page in chronological order.
Feedback:
- Students are welcome to submit feedback via the discussion board section of the site.
- The instructor will send out two "check-in" e-mails during the design modules to ensure students are succeeding with their InDesign assignments.
- The instructor will respond to all e-mails within 24 hours whenever possible.
- Each design and testing module will be rich with third party resources to aid students in their projects.
Interactivity:
- Each module depends on interaction between students. In every module, they will share at least one assignment through the discussion boards and are expected to give feedback to at least three of their peers.
- The design and testing modules are media rich, giving students the opportunity to watch videos and interact with mobile device simulators.
- Grades will be posted in the LMS and students will receive their final project grade via e-mail.
Other Factors
- Due to the reliance on web-based tools along with desktop software, assignment dates may fluctuate if their is a known issue with the websites, simulators or software.
Identifying Types of Media for the Course
Students will have access to the following media:
- Short video clips demonstrating key principles in InDesign
- More than 8 interactive mobile device simulators
- Videos demonstrating the innovative use of mobile devices and/or their popularity amongst students
- The media will largely be sourced from third party content providers. If necessary, the instructor will create supplemental videos for explanation using Camtasia Relay.
- Students will need to have Quicktime player and Adobe flash installed in order to access content.
